Gansey is just aware enough of weird internet (thanks, college!) to know who Chuck Tingle is, and he laughs. "Love is real, buckaroos, yeah?" It's not his type of literature but he knows the meme.

"I'm actually very bad at violence," Gansey confesses, and this is a confession; he's a bit ashamed of it. Not because violence is cool, but because he has a deeply ingrained instinct that says when shit gets real he's alarmingly helpless.
